About

About Us; My Vision; My Mission; My Why

I believe small people can do big things. And it first starts with belief...

My vision at its core is to help and impact and improve the health and life of a billion people.

Why?

1️⃣ Eradicate Poverty - Money is not the root cause of all evil, poverty is. What is poverty? Poverty is the lack of all money.

2️⃣ Eradicate disease - Bird flu; ebola; dysentery; these have hurt millions across the world. What theme have they all shared in common? Poverty. Poverty is the origin of disease and poor healthcare. Imagine by helping those in poverty, you are making the whole world a healthier and cleaner place and helping stop the cause for disease.

3️⃣ Collaboration, technology, innovation - 1/3 of the world population lives below the world poverty mark that is more than 4 billion people. This is 4 billion people who are struggling every day just to find water to drink. Imagine if these people were like you, going to university, working for pharmaceutical companies, banks, industries... imagine the value and the good they could bring to the world, imagine the accomplishments in science, the advancements in space exploration these people could bring to you, and humanity.

4️⃣ Harmony - When people feel safe. Whether in love, life or business, harmony can be the glue or lack of it the scissor in your relationship.

5️⃣ Feels good - The greatest transformation happens to you when you give. Whenever you are at your best, give, and truly mean it.

How?

I do not know, but I am going to figure it out.

And I believe it starts with...

1️⃣ Having belief

2️⃣ Being authentic about what you love, and who you are

3️⃣ Taking massive action

4️⃣ Doing the uncomfortable

5️⃣ And always learning

Small people can do big things. And I think I can too.

How did I get here? To branding and marketing for healthcare companies?

My short answer - Healthcare companies have a purpose to improve the health and life of people. However, As a Pharmacist and scientist, I know too well that far too many healthcare companies have terrible marketing and irksome branding, and scientists? Well they suck at sales. And traditional sales people? Well patients don't really trust them. Do you?
That is why I have spent the last 14 years studying human psychology and philosophy, and the last 3 years studying the application of this to sales, marketing and branding for business. I read an average of 14 books a year in business, science, philosophy and autobiographies and I follow and study the marketing of more than 108 most innovative companies. It's showed me what works, what doesn't. And I believe I can help improve the health and lives of patients around the world by helping healthcare companies.

Is this you?

From Disastrous beginnings to a Delightful change

How did I go from trouble at school, my future unknown, my dreams in peril. Gone. To graduating from Great Britain's #3 university University College London (UCL) (Rank #8 in the world) and becoming a Pharmacist?

I had no easy beginnings... I had disastrous beginnings. I struggled a lot. And what did I learn from it. I learnt that to struggle is to be human and I learnt to accept it, and to learn from your struggles is the way to overcome them. I overcame my struggles but I did not do this on my own, I had mentors and my first mentor was my mother.

How did I go from trouble at school, to graduating from England's #3 university (rank #8 in the world)?

Short answer is I had help

And I commit to help others

From No Friends To The Friendliest Person

I spoke little word of English. This was when I started school. Imagine you're in a new environment where now there are people bigger, stronger and older than you and you're aged 5, and guess what? You don't speak the language. It was no surprise I had few friends, and I quickly became the pariah of the tribe.  What made matters worse, I was bullied every day. I would go home bruised, with black eyes and cuts to my body. I tried telling the teachers and using every arsenal I had, (which at the time was basically pointing at people who hurt me and crying to the teachers). I couldn't speak and couldn't do much else. The bullies knew how to communicate and told the teachers that I would slip, I would fall, and even hit myself (how audacious is that?). And who did the teachers believe? Yes the bullies... It was then I knew enough was enough, I need to learn how to communicate, I have to change.

I spent the next 20 years of my life studying communication and the science and principles of people and why they do what they do. And now my life has changed. I have transformed. I have amazing friends now, and I have created deep and strong bonds with people around me who I love and know they love me too.

From Engineer to Health-Trepreneur

My parents hated me doing this.

Growing up around ages 3-10 I had an obsession with taking things apart to learn about 'how they work'. Everything. Nothing was safe. I would take apart the TV remote and mod the sensors, and then shambolically try to put it back together again. I would open up dad's desktop computer, yes I did that, and try to fix. In my defence, dad did complain the computer was a bit slow, and I was 'only trying to help'. What was a software problem, I made into a hardware work of vibrant green circuit boards, colourful resisters and black modules work of art. Needless to say I did get into a fair bit of trouble but being the curious monkey I was, I didn't stop there. We still had a microwave, we had hair dryers, we had a vacuum cleaner, and gosh so many phones, even the landline (we were out of a landline for 2 weeks). I actually managed to fix the landline I took apart using the experience acquired from numerous hardware operations.

Fast forward a few years, I was making model motorised cars, speed boats, and even made a flying helicopter. I was engineering a new innovative invention every 6 days. One in particular was a fruit fly trap I invented which used the science of the fly's attraction to fruity esters that hollowed them into the trap combined with the physiology of their wing movement to prevent them from escaping.

It was not until my grand-father who got sick, and my nan who soon followed, along with my uncle who came after that I saw the evil that bad healthcare brought. I wish I could do something about it and so I went towards healthcare.

Fast forward a few more years, in my fourth year of university, it was through joining GIANT Health Events and my roles in their Beanstalks Startup Programme team that turned me into who I am now.

I am a Health-Trepreneur
Spoke on TV on the show 'Healthy Innovators' in 2017 with Barry Shrier (middle- CEO GIANT Health), Tina Woods (right- CEO Collider Health), Eugene Borukhovich (left- Global Head of Digital Health at Bayer) and Marteka Swaby  (second from the left - Clinical Psychologist and CEO of Benevolent Health)
“Amir is a reliable, talented and pragmatic individual who has managed GIANT’s Beanstalks Programme, which boasts an international competition for health startups to pitch for prizes.

Reliability - Amir has a positive, solution-oriented and no-fuss working style. He has a strong record of delivery and of helping others. He is quick with solutions when confronted with challenges.

Talented - Amir is talented and resourceful. He has a strong business acumen in addition to his science skills, which was very helpful in the entrepreneurial environment that we operate.

Pragmatic - When I hired Amir for our Beanstalks programme; growth was slow, and not international in the way I envisioned. Amir was focused on the people that we would work with and what he would learn, and he swiftly made a measurable, valuable contribution.

And all in all, I would recommend Amir to anyone considering him for a position in their organization.”
Barry Shrier, London, CEO GIANT Health
“I met Amir for a coaching session for Estonian Connected Health Cluster startups. Amir had a very keen eye for details and even though the session wasn't very long, I learned a lot about the specifics of the UK market we hadn't previously considered working in Northern Europe.”
Eero Ränik, COO MEDIHUB, Tallinn
